Maharashtra Assembly Elections: Congress announces first list of 48 Candidates

On Thursday, the Congress party released its first list of 48 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. The elections are set to take place on November 20, and this list includes prominent leaders from the party.

Key Candidates announced

State Congress chief Nana Patole has been fielded from Sakoli, former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan from Karad South, and Leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar from Brahmapuri. These are important names as the party prepares for a tough contest. The party has also given tickets to former MLAs Gopaldas Agarwal and Sunil Deshmukh, who returned to Congress after a brief switch to the BJP.

MVA Alliance and seat sharing

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, which includes Congress, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Shiv Sena (UBT), has agreed to contest 85 seats each. Discussions are still ongoing to divide the remaining 33 seats among the smaller parties.

The elections for the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly will be held in one phase, with counting set for November 23.
